E-mail has brought us the ability to transmit and receive information at blazing fast speeds. It's also given people the ability to spread falsehoods faster than ever. Brought to you by the propagators of the chain letter, let's all welcome in the e-mail hoax.

Hoaxes come in many forms, either as an "important message" from a company we all recognize, such as Microsoft, Yahoo, or any number of reputable companies. Truth is, these companies never release any such information about viruses, little girls with cancer that are looking to set a world record, or the promise of cash from major corporations for participating in their "e-mail tracking" program.
